Pop icon Britney Spears has once again deleted her Instagram account, sparking concern among fans after a series of troubling posts and a public feud with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

As of Sunday, Nov. 2, Spears’ Instagram profile was no longer visible. A message on the platform read that her “profile may have been removed.” The disappearance follows several cryptic and emotional posts over the past month, many of which touched on her personal struggles, family life, and lingering pain from her 13-year conservatorship.

Fans began to worry in early October when Spears, 43, uploaded videos of herself dancing in her living room — a familiar form of self-expression for the singer, but turned off comments on posts that contained somber or confusing captions. One post, shared Oct. 7, showed Spears with visible bruises on her arms and bandages around her hands and wrists. In the caption, she explained that she had fallen down the stairs and mentioned her two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, who live with Federline, 47, in Hawaii.

“My boys had to leave and go back to Maui,” Spears wrote. “This is the way I express myself and pray through art. I’m not here for concern or pity — I just want to be a good woman and be better.” She added that she had injured herself in the fall but thanked God for her recovery.

On Oct. 19, the Grammy winner shared another post referencing her time in rehab in 2018, during the height of her conservatorship. In the caption, she alluded to suffering “brain damage” and compared herself to the character Maleficent, writing, “Her wings were holy so the king couldn’t take them.” The post hinted at lasting trauma, echoing themes from her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me.

The singer’s decision to leave Instagram coincides with renewed public scrutiny from Federline’s upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, which details his marriage to Spears and their family life. According to excerpts published by The New York Times and E! Online, Federline makes several claims about Spears’ parenting, alleged infidelity, and emotional instability.

In mid-October, Spears fired back on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Federline of “constantly gaslighting” her and profiting from her pain. “To be loved unconditionally and with a naïve heart like mine,” she wrote, “always being threatened or made to believe I’m the bad one as they profit off my pain…” She also questioned Federline’s motives during recent press interviews, writing, “Why is he so angry? What’s scary is he’s convincing.”

A representative for Spears responded to the memoir’s allegations in a statement to People magazine on Oct. 14. “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her,” the statement said. “All she cares about are her kids and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”

Since the end of her conservatorship in 2021, Spears has spoken candidly about reclaiming her freedom and mental health, often using social media to express herself creatively. However, her recent posts — and now her sudden disappearance from Instagram — have reignited public concern for the pop star’s emotional state.

While Spears has yet to comment publicly on her decision to deactivate her account, fans continue to send messages of love and support across other platforms, hoping the singer is taking time to heal privately.
