Variety’s Actors on Actors is back for its 23rd season, and while the lineup is stacked with Hollywood heavyweights, there is one pairing that immediately sent LGBTQ+ Twitter into full meltdown: Jonathan Bailey and David Corenswet.
That’s right. On December 7, the Winkie Prince and the newest Superman will sit across from each other, talk craft, and almost certainly have the audience in shambles.
Variety, we thank you for your service.
The Pairing Fans Manifested
Bailey, who has become one of Hollywood’s most exciting leading gay men, is coming off a massive year. He stole hearts in Jurassic World Rebirth, anchored the queer fantasia that is Wicked: For Good, and continues to be one of the most charismatic actors working today. Not to mention he secured the title as People’s first openly gay Sexiest Man Alive.
Corenswet, meanwhile, is saving lives and stealing hearts as the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman. He’s tall, charming, and has the kind of classic-movie-star face that makes the internet lose structural integrity.
Pair him with Bailey’s soft British mischief and you have a gay cultural event.
Let’s Check Out the Rest of the Lineup
The new Actors on Actors season also features huge names like Ariana Grande with Adam Sandler, Julia Roberts with Sean Penn, Cynthia Erivo with Hugh Jackman, and Gwyneth Paltrow with Jacob Elordi. Every day from December 5 to 17 brings another A-list combo on CNN at 9 a.m. ET and on Variety’s YouTube channel at 3 p.m. ET.
But let’s be honest. There is only one episode that has already been clipped, GIF-ed, and thirst-prepped before it even exists.
If the Bailey and Corenswet conversation is even half as flirty, chaotic, or tender as fans are imagining, we are entering a brand-new renaissance.
Mark Your Calendars
Full episodes of Variety Actors on Actors air daily on CNN beginning December 5. But the moment to circle, underline, and frame is December 7. Superman meets Wicked’s leading man, and we are simply not emotionally prepared.
