Naomi Watts and her daughter Kai Schreiber stepped out together at Paris Fashion Week this weekend, bringing family support, and a lot of style, to the front row of Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2026 womenswear presentation.

The mother-daughter duo attended the show in Paris on March 7, where 17-year-old Kai delivered a striking look that fit right into the fashion house’s dramatic aesthetic. Dressed in a cropped black cape top paired with tailored trousers, the rising model leaned into Balenciaga’s sharp silhouettes. Watts complemented the moment with an off-the-shoulder black top and sleek trousers, creating an understated but coordinated appearance.

Their joint outing was another reminder that Kai’s presence in fashion continues to grow, and she’s doing it with plenty of family encouragement along the way.

A Rising Name on the Runway

Kai has quickly built momentum since stepping into the modeling world. She recently signed with IMG Models, a major agency whose roster includes some of fashion’s biggest names.

Her runway debut came with Maison Valentino, a milestone that helped launch her into the industry’s spotlight. Since then, she has appeared in shows for labels such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Mugler during recent fashion seasons.

Kai has been open about the goal that first inspired her to pursue modeling.

“I want to be a supermodel. Period,” she told Interview Magazine last year. “I’ve been practising my walks in the kitchen for years, my mom can show you all the videos I forced her to film.”

Those kitchen runway rehearsals appear to have paid off. Kai regularly shares behind-the-scenes moments from fittings, shows and shoots on social media, documenting her progress in real time.

A Supportive Family Behind Her

Kai is the daughter of Watts and actor Liev Schreiber. The pair were together for more than a decade after first meeting in 2005 and share two children, Kai and her older sibling Sasha.

The family has maintained a close bond even after Watts and Schreiber separated in 2016.

Kai publicly came out as transgender in 2024 and has spoken openly about her identity. Both parents have consistently voiced their support. Watts frequently celebrates Kai’s achievements online, while Schreiber has described his daughter as resilient.

“Kai was always who Kai is,” Schreiber told People Magazine in an earlier interview. “I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns. To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me.”

The actor also praised Kai’s determination, once referring to her as “a fighter” while discussing how she navigates life and her ambitions.

Fashion Week Moments and a Familiar Front Row

Kai’s appearance at the Balenciaga show wasn’t the first time she and Watts have attended high-profile fashion events together. The two have previously appeared at several industry gatherings, including an Armani Beauty event and earlier editions of Paris Fashion Week.

They also co-hosted an LGBTQ+ fundraising event in New York, reflecting the family’s continued support for the community.

Kai’s growing visibility in fashion coincides with a broader shift across the industry, where trans models are increasingly represented on major runways and campaigns.
