While appearing on Owen Thiele’s In Your Dreams podcast, Kendall Jenner shut down a long-circulating internet rumor once and for all.
“Then there’s the whole side of the internet that thinks I’m a lesbian,” she said in Friday’s episode.
The 30-year-old model went on to say that it’s not the rumors or speculation that upset her, but the attitude people have toward it.
“You want to know what really bothers me? How mean people are about it,” Jenner continued. “It’s not with, like, a welcoming arm of like, ‘Hey, if you were, yes, come join.’ It’s not kind. It’s very mean. It’s very like, ‘What the f—- are you doing?’
“I’ve seen really f—-ed up things that are like, ‘It’s bad for business,’ and I’m like, ‘What? How?’ I don’t understand it.”
Jenner’s frustration reflects a long-standing reality in Hollywood, where many celebrities have later revealed they were advised by managers or industry insiders not to come out if they wanted to keep working. At the same time, the internet continues to prove how toxic conversations around sexuality can become, from accusations of queerbaiting to invasive speculation about celebrities’ personal lives.
Even so, Jenner said she feels supported enough in her life that, if she were queer, she would come out.
“I understand that coming out is not an easy thing for anybody, if not most people,” the Kardashians star said. “And I’m not saying that’s an easy thing, but knowing, and I can speak for myself here, and knowing myself, I think at this point in my life I’d be out if I was. I’m not saying it’s an easy thing. I’m just saying that knowing me and knowing how I would want to live my life, I would be. I’d have no problem being that.”
To be clear, Jenner said that as of today she is not queer, adding, “but I’m not closing doors to experiences in life.”
Honestly, it feels safe to say that in 2026 we should be done speculating about other people’s sexuality. Still, we love the thoughtfulness and openness of Jenner’s response, especially in a culture that so often demands labels on someone else’s timeline.
