Trans actor Angelica Ross thanked Emma Roberts for apologizing after she allegedly made transphobic remarks on the set of American Horror Story.
Angelica Ross, the notable trans actress and singer, is speaking out! In an Instagram Live with her fans earlier this week, Ross spoke about the comments made by her costar Emma Roberts. The two worked together on the ninth season of American Horror Story. Ross claims Roberts misgendered her and mocked her voice during filming.
The Pose star told fans how Roberts jokingly complained to the director about Ross “being mean.” This prompted him to call to the actors, “Ok ladies, that’s enough. Get back to work.”
“She then looks at me, she goes ‘don’t you mean lady?’,” Ross said.
“I’m standing there looking her deadass in the damn [camera] trying to process [what] the f**k she just said,” Ross continued.
“I’m like, ‘If I say something, it’s going to be me that’s the problem,’ and I know this because there was someone who spoke up about what she was doing and they got repercussions from it. Not her! They did.”
Ross Says Emma Roberts Made Her Self Conscious
According to Ross’s messages on X (formerly known as Twitter), Roberts also made unsavory comments about her voice in front of their costars.
“The funniest part? We’re all sitting around & I’m copying Cody’s accent. Didn’t know he had one. Emma then copies my voice & laugh and drops it several octaves. I was SHOOK. She read me for blood with my own words … of course I was self conscious about my voice on set after that.”
Roberts has also reportedly called and apologized for her actions on set to Ross and promised to be a better ally.
However, Ross wanted to clarify that she does not support fans sending Roberts threats or hateful messages. “I appreciate the support but please do not joke about violence towards Emma. Joke about her being held accountable. Now THATs funny.”
In a more recent post on X from the star, Ross said she has made the decision to quit Hollywood.
